Edinburgh is Scotland’s beautiful capital, known throughout the world as the Festival City since the first Edinburgh International Festival in 1947. There is much more than just one ‘Edinburgh Festival’ making up the Festival City, instead visitors come to Edinburgh every year to experience the many different festivals which all present a diverse variety of artists and events throughout the year. In August alone there are six different festivals running at the same time, including the International Festival.

The Edinburgh International Festival plays host to the giants of the arts each year with an ecclectic programme of music, theatre, opera and dance every August, hand picked by the Festival Director.
