Aberdeen city guide

Aberdeen wears its title of “The Granite City” with pride. It is an affluent and cosmopolitan city whose prosperous history stems from its strong connections with the North Sea. Originally a maritime city, Aberdeen’s main industry is now within the Oil & Gas sector.

The striking granite buildings, such as St Machar’s Cathedral and Marischal College give the city its personality, sparkling in the sunshine.

With over two million roses, eleven million daffodils and three million crocuses, Aberdeen has won the “Britain in Bloom” competition quite deservedly many times. One of the top attractions of the city is the Winter Gardens in Duthie Park, whose features include many rare and exotic plants from all over the world and one of the largest collections of Cacti in the UK. You can visit the temperate House, The Corridor of Perfumes, The Fern House, The Japanese Garden and many more.

Other attractions the city has to offer include; The Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Satrosphere Science Centre.

The City of Aberdeen with a proud and fascinating history presents a modern cosmopolitan image to visitors. A thriving cultural calendar, lively theatre, and vibrant nightlife, along with excellent restaurants and attractions make Aberdeen an energising city break choice.
